Key West FL, 1961     BILL INGE & TENNESSEE WILLIAMS
TENN
We're talkin' life-time dream here, Blossom!
BILL
I'm not going!
TENN
You're nominated for an Oscar and you're not going?
BILL
I won't win.
TENN
Not good enough, Peaches!
BILL
I'll be surrounded by people crowding in on me.
TENN
Movie stars! Rock Hudson. Troy Donahue.
BILL
What if I start yelling? What if I start screaming that I have to get out?
TENN
You'll make like you're going to the little boys' room and wait in the lobby. Then, when they call your name...
BILL
I can't do it!
TENN
Artists need to have the soul of a butterfly and the hide of a rhinoceros.
BILL
Is that what you have? The skin of a rhino?
TENN
Blossom, I've got the delicate flesh of a Southern belle.
BILL
And I'm Humpty Dumpty, falling into little bits.
TENN
It's the fine madness, Peaches. Like Byron said, "We of the craft are all crazy, some are affected by gaiety, others by melancholy, but all are more or less touched."
